After serving for 10 years as the Executive Director of the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, Laura Kaufman founded Partners in Effective Philanthropy in 2009 to provide strategic counsel in raising funds and giving funds.

Laura has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 26 years and has served as the Executive Director of nonprofits and the chief executive of two foundations. 

Laura has a proven track record in fundraising, and raised $6.35 million from major donors during her tenure at the Jewish Women’s Foundation.

2)   How to Build A Community of Supporters (AKA How to Ask for Money) – Topics include why people give to charity, the Board’s role in fundraising, and how to pitch donors.

Audience:  Board Members, Fundraising Volunteers, Development staff and Executive Directors

3)   Tweeting for Dollars – An introduction to how to use social media and online networking to raise awareness and funds for nonprofit organizations.

Audience:  Communications staff, Development staff, Program Staff and Executive Directors

4)   How to Build an Effective Individual Donor Program – A look at the systems, personnel and strategies that go into successful individual donor campaigns and at how to recruit, engage and hold onto individual donors.  Workshop includes strategies for smaller, mid-level and major givers.

 

Audience:  Development staff, Executive Directors and Board Members

Half day (A more succinct version is also available for 2 hours)

 

* Each of the above training modules can be tweaked to fit the audience attending.  For example, if only very small non-profits are attending “How to Build an Effective Individual Donor Program,” they might not need much information about major donors.  The program could then be adjusted to focus in even more depth on securing smaller donations.
